Team Reel Thing is a service provided by Johnny Carpenter and Bob Metcalf out of Bessemer City, North Carolina. They both have over 35 years of fishing experience. Bob is a USCG Licensed Captain. They have both been fishing lower piedmont state lakes professionally and recreationally. In 1976, Johnny finished 2nd at the age of 17 in a professional fishing tournament, and he is still holding the record as the youngest rookie fishermen to place that high in a tournament.

Team Reel Thing has been in service since 2001. They have a new commercial center console "The Crystal Carolina" that has lots of room and high gunners with no worries about small children or anyone falling out. There is a limit of 5 persons per outing. The boat is a 10 person boat, but will fish 5 comfortably. All equipment is provided, but the option to bring your own is available. You will have to purchase your own permit or license. All bait and tackle is provided. The boat is equipped with 150 horsepower, Yamaha outboard, sonar, GPS, underwater camera, and a weather sense radar.

You will need to bring sunglasses, sun block, a cooler for fish, a camera, and snacks/lunch.

Bob specializes in large Arkansas catfish. Johnny specializes in stripped bass. All rod & reels are furnished for the type and size of fish we are targeting. North Carolina lakes that we frequently fish at are Lake Rhodhiss, Lake Hickory, Lake Norman, and High Rock. We can go to any lake that is within an hour and a half of Gastonia. South Carolina lakes include Lake Hartwell, Lake Murray, and Santee Cooper Reservoirs, which are within a three hour drive from Gastonia, North Carolina.

We also do: wildlife photography tours, custom rod building, rod & reel repairs, and taxidermy

Ladies & children are more than welcome on our boats.
